| Posted Comments: TheCaptain (2010-09-12) | I've always been under the belief that this is a smugglers shelter, possibly dating back to the middle ages. | Sunny100 (2010-09-12) | Yes, these caves were used by smugglers as recently as the 1800s. The buildings ie door and windows probably date from that time. But the caves themselves may date back to the Bronze Age as excavations inside the caves found items from those periods in history. | Andy B (2010-09-14) | En e-mailed me to say there are two locations with this name in the same area. My photos are for the site of the same name, nearer to Port Eynon @ GR 467844 (159). | Sunny100 (2010-09-14) | The OS grid reference for Culver Hole near Port Eynon is SS 467844. | Andy B (2010-09-14) | Sunny, would you mind doing us a Site page for the other one at SS 467844 (assuming it has some prehistoric connections) | Sunny100 (2010-09-14) | Andy i have posted a site page for Culver Hole at that grid reference. | Sunny100 (2010-09-15) | The above photo by En is the correct one for os grid reference SS 467844. |
