(2012-04-16) | I think I found this tomb rather uncared for in comparison to some of the others, although the mats were appreciated to protect clothing when looking into the chambers

(2012-04-16) | Tee hee! It's a few years since I was there but it all seemed to me to be presented in a very natural way rather than the more manicured approach of Historic Scotland at say Maeshowe or Unstan.
It will be interesting to see how the excavation at Banks comes on and what if any similarities there are with the finds at Tomb of the Eagles, were they contemporaries, enemies or...? | paulinelen
(2012-04-16) | There is another mound in the field between Bank's and the eagles tombs - Hamish was saying that the current opinion was that it was all bedrock - but then that is what they said about Banks tomb. I guess I am more used to a bit of manicuring these days although some of the sites we have visited have been rather 'natural' and interesting. Banks tomb is very much a work in progress and pretty wet underfoot too but so exciting.

(2012-04-16) | It is exciting, I'd love to visit both Banks and the Ness of Brodgar as they are finding something different every day. The repeat of Ancient Britain is on starting as I type and it has an interesting interpretation of the complex at the Ness, if you missed it last time, it's worth a peek. | paulinelen
(2012-04-16) | . I would love to be there when they are working on the Ness of Bodgar, it is very exciting, sadly I don't suppose we will be back to Orkney, it was a once in a lifetime opportunity and time there was so short. Off to find Ancient Britain
