Outside looks pretty bleak, doesn't it? | jeffrep (2010-08-03) | Hoy is pretty bleak on the whole, but very dramatic with the only real mountains in all of Orkney. The west coast of Hoy, on the other hand, is most beautiful. The famous "Old Man of Hoy" sea stack, which we hiked to, is on the west side. | AngieLake (2010-08-03) | Yes, the mountains form a focal point for many of the sites on the mainland, and the cliffs along that coast are great; I remember them from the boat in 2001. [Exaggerating somewhat!]: It's a wonder it didn't capsize with everyone coming out on deck to see the Old Man. ;-) |
