No modern skylights. The solitude, and darkness are quite creepy, but it is superb. A very low crawl indeed, and investigating the four smaller chambers is a must. Best shots were without a flash, and I rather liked this self portrait just near the entrance. Summed up the feeling of this tomb, which some have called "The Tomb of the Beagles" due to the quanity of dog bones found here. |
| Posted Comments: Niksta (2007-05-01) | Wow... what an exciting experience. Have been talking about visiting the Orkney Islands. Looks very interesting. :) | TimPrevett (2007-05-01) | Get to Orkney, Niksta. Of all the megalithic areas I have visited, Orkney visits my mind, thoughts and emotions every day, no exaggeration. Lucky sod I am, I had two working trips there last year, and am itching to get back. | AngieLake (2007-05-01) | Lucky you Tim! I'd love to go back again, and to Lewis too. | MikeGreen (2009-04-07) | Orkney is fabulous and the only place where I have been able to handle a prehistoric human skull |
