It lies just to the south of the cursus, screened from Stonehenge by the trees of Fargo Plantation.
Reading about a proposal to place the new visitor centre in Fargo Plantation made me think of this one!

(2009-02-01) | Mmm...... not really Jim. I was well wrapped-up in layers, and a fleece hat, and wearing wellies with my younger son's old thick Army cadet socks inside! The sun was shining all day though, which makes you feel warmer. | AngieLake
(2009-10-02) | This must be 'The Monarch of the Plain' at grid ref SU111428. "A flat topped mound, 25m in diameter, surrounded by a sloping berm 5m wide, and then a ditch 4m wide. The top is 3.5m high. Also known as Amesbury Bell Barrow No. 55. It was an Anglo-Saxon boundary marker.... To the SW the boundary is in alignment with the linear alignment of barrows at Longbarrow Crossroads." Quote almost exactly from a book on Stonehenge and Avebury in the library today.
