Contact them for permission to reproduce it. | | | Posted Comments: shikhar (2011-10-20) | can any 1 explain what does it indicate....... | Runemage (2011-10-21) | Newgrange is a passage mound and it was built so that on Winter Solstice, (and a few days either side) the sun enters a small area above the door called the roofbox and shines in a beam on the passage floor, eventually making the farthest areas bright for a few minutes, then it recedes to leave the structure in darkness for another year. It's thought that because that's the shortest day of the year, the ancient people who built the mound wanted some large and permanent way to record this event. | Martin L (2011-10-21) | Sketches show cross-section and groundplan of the chamber+passage. |
