This cave was first occupied in the upper palaeolithic period probably used as a transit camp when following the animals in the Ice Age. (Its position is on the southern limits of the ice cap during the that period).
The cave was used as a burial cave during the Bronze Age. The excavation of 1958 found scattered human remains and sherds of burial urns.
