Contact them for permission to reproduce it. |  | | Description | According to Butler some of the cairn stones of Summit Cairn 3 were "reorganized into a smaller cairn on the summit as one of the many commemorations on the moor celebrating the 1887 jubilee, but the original labour may well have been Bronze Age."
(This shape echoes a similar but larger construction on Yar Tor near Dartmeet that was a point of controversy on Meg P a few years ago!) ;-) |

(2012-09-14) | I see this all the time all across Dartmoor two on the top of Hangmens hill just to name a few. It looks like a Cairn was there originally but looks like the stones have been moved for some reason, maybe to get out the wind !!! | AngieLake

(2012-09-14) | This has been done to many hilltop cairns all over the country as a way of providing shelter when the weather is bad. Centuries ago by shepherds and miners, more recently by Armed forces training, outward bound type things, and nowadays just outdoors tourists. Often destroyed remnants of cists or other structures can be seen in the bottom of the destruction. |
