Description Stonehenge under a cirrus sky.
HDR works so well on rough old stone and polarised cirrus clouds.

Sorry, but it doesn't do it for me.

Nor me Martyn. I like sky to look like infinite 'space' rather than a solid backdrop. I think that's the problem. The stones aren't bad, looking rather 3-D, but in most of these photos both areas [land/monument & sky] have too much going on - busy, busy, busy. The Silbury one came across best, and I think it's because there is less sky, so viewers can focus on the monument. (Sorry, kbr!)

As with the previous picture from KBR, I would call this a drama-photo of the Sky, with Stonehenge as its anchor.
Fantastic use of HDR though.
Great photo.

dont say sorry, its always good to hear an opinion, even (or especially) critical. I htink the technique works well on the stone itself as it brings out the texture, but I agree that as an academic record it would be bettre with less going on in the sky. I would love to be able to shoot in a glowing foggy dawn, like the ones I remeber passing by there as a kid (I was brought up in East somerset)

A very gracious reply kbr. I do hope you find your glowing foggy dawn and I'm sure we all look forward to seeing it. Meanwhile I'm sure you have many fans of this technique.
