Is anyone aware of what the current situation as regards Stancliffe's attempts to reopen a number of quarries on Stanton Moor? The official anti-quarry website - 9 Ladies Anti-Quarry Campaign - seems to be posting so little news lately. I'm trying to keep up-to-date on my own new website at Stanton Moor.
If you have any info I'd like to hear from you. You can post it here, email me at email@stantonmoor.co.uk, or post a message on my own board at the above address.
Many thanks in advance,
shaq

The latest situation is that yet another extention was granted (see http://www.megalithic.co.uk/article.php?sid=2146410973) to Stancliffe Stone Ltd/Marshalls to gather further information.
A new hearing is expected late this year/early next year. In the meantime the protestors face eviction for being illegal but they wouldn't have been illegal if the planning process had run smoothly!
The hold ups do nothing for the credibility of the National Park and a swift resolution is needed. The only promising sign is the number of quarries refused in recent months so the planning committee know how to say no!
Hope this helps

Thanks for the info.
I've also received a scoop from someone close to the Moor and the Parish Council there, saying (my words):
11 July 2003 - A decision regarding any enforcement on the protesters' structures has been deferred until the 22nd August at a Parish Council planning meeting following a conversation with the Mineral's Officer. (Pers. comm., public information).

Too many mixed messages if the authorities enforced against the protestors.
