Rivock Edge, part of Ilkley/Rombalds Moor is up for sale! The 200 hectares of spruce plantation have come on the market for a paltry £275,000! The forest is about to enter it's 'productive phase', harvesting to begin within the decade.
Not only does it contain one of the areas highest concentrations of cup and ring marked rocks, it contains the Rivock Well and a curious cave called the 'Rivock Oven'.
So, 500 of us with £500 each...

Edit; oops! £550! Maths never my strong point!

Hi David,

I'd be up for a share. Rivock Edge Protection Society sounds like just the ticket. I could then tell the grumpy gamekeeper of Ilkley Moor to keep off MY land!!!

Rivock Edge is a part of the moor I've never managed to visit yet. The photos on your webpage look very interesting tho'..... next time I'll make a point of visiting the spot.

I think another site that needs some formal investigation is the Twelve Apostles circle. As far as I know, it has never been excavated... and as it seems to be deteriorating, some form of recording of the original positions of fallen stones may be good before it's too late. Not sure who would be the best person to contact about this.... the Manor House Museum in Ilkley doesn't seem to have much to display on the matter and I've come across little in the way of published records of the site.

Best wishes..... Andy H
