Percussion - 60 places; 15 per w/s - We have brought together two very different styles of drumming.
There are 2 w/s in African drumming in particular Sabar, a form that originates from Senegal hosted by Modou Diouf, an internationally acclaimed musician.
The other 2 w/s hail from the other side of our globe - Jose Ferrera will be inviting you along to use a selection of classic Cuban instruments whereby students can learn the classic rhythms of Son, Guaguanco and other Afro-Cuban styles.
Puppetry - 40 places; 20 per w/s - Your chance to produce your own puppet from a varied selection of recycled materials and then be shown the art of bringing them to life. Facilitated by local puppeteer Cendrine Belleux (Norwich Puppet Theatre) this promises to be a popular w/s.
Comedy/Drama - 15 places - Ever fancied been a comic/actor? Think you've got what it takes? Now's your chance to come and take part in what could be the funniest set of w/s this side of the border. Facilitated by Theatre of Adventure these w/s promise to be oversubscribed, so apply early.
Spirit of Carnival - 60 places; 20 per w/s - Mainly aimed at the younger people, here's a chance to come and make costumes, masks, giant puppets and any thing carnival. Learn what carnival is and what its roots are as you create your own costume and then if that‚s not enough be a part of the Carnival Procession through the festival on the Saturday afternoon led by The Norwich Samba Band.
All workshops are FREE and are open to all of any age, class, creed, ability etc. A parent or gaurdian must accompany children under 13. Young adults (13-16) must have parental/guardians permission. STALLS
Stall bookings are still welcomed and with an expected attendance of 10,000, you'll have plenty of opportunity to sell your goods. Time is running out and pitches are filling up, so please contact us as soon as possible if you'd like to take part in this huge, community event.
Please contact Nikki on 01603 503924 (9am-6.30pm) for food stall bookings and non-profit stalls, and Tim & Alice on 01603 444646 for craft stalls and fly pitch bookings. Or you can email your details to stalls@albionarts.org or find a printable PDF of our stall booking form at http://www.albionarts.org
VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers are vital to assist with the smooth running of the festival and help to keep costs paid to professional stewards to a minimum. By assisting us with site work and stewarding, you would be making a priceless contribution to what is a community event, organised entirely by volunteers. Even a two hour shift handing out programmes and taking donations, or stewarding in the area of the festival of your preference is a big help. We are currently holding regular festival planning meetings which volunteers are very welcome to attend, please contact us if you would like to get involved by emailing listings@albionarts.org.
PHOTOGRAPHY
We'd very much like to encourage people to bring their cameras to the festival and snap away to their heart's content. Please send your photos to listings@albionarts.org and we'll put them up on the website archive. If we can blag a few goodies from the bands, there may even be a few prizes for our favourites too. Please keep digital files to 72 pixels per inch and compress as jpegs for ease of emailing.
FESTIVAL PLANNING MEETINGS
We are currently holding regular Festival Planning Meetings. If you would like to come and get involved in, our next meeting is in the downstairs room at St Andrew's Tavern, on Thursday 10th July at 7.30pm.
