HELP -I'm trying to find an accurate map of the four post holes and the 'tree throw' hole discovered in the car park at Stonehenge, plus dimensions for the holes and possible sizes for the posts.
I'm doing an 'E' course in 3D graphics and a rough simulation taken from a map in Francis Pryor's 'Britain BC' has produced some startling results. But to proceed further I need some exact measurements.
Can anyone help?

A couple of sources which should help you (edit: the first one feanor links to directly).

In the 143 MB PDF Cleal download, the relevant information is on pg 62, with fig 24 preceeding. All the locations, dimensions, and 1966 Vacher dig references are provided.
In addition to the links Hamish provides above, you should have enough to work with.

Hamish and Feanor
Many thanks to both of you!
It's support like this that shows the internet, and The Megalithic Portal in particular to be a 'Good Thing'.
Bless you both

sem,
I can assure you that, at least, my motivations are wholly mercenary.
We expect a full report on the findings!

A phone call to English Heritage today drew a complete blank on this one, so maybe someone who has visited SH recently could help me out.
Are the post holes still marked out (they are in the old car park) and are they accessible?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Sem,
I've been reading forum posts for years but finaslly thought I'd join so hello!
I was at Stonehenge recently but didn't have a look at the old car park. However, it is still visible via this website: http://www.content-delivery.co.uk/aviation/airfields/
You can select Boscombe Down then navigate to Stonehenge. The posts are marked in white.
Best wishes, Guy

Welcome aboard Guy and thanks for the info.
I tried again yesterday with English Heritage and though they were a tad more helpful they completely failed to impress me on the following counts -
1. Can I still visit the post holes/are they still marked - don't know.
2. Could you put me in touch with someone who does know - don't know.
3. Could you give me the SH site office tel number - no, not allowed.
4. Any other suggestions? - you can email us at etc
5. Does this mean I will get the info in time for the Xmas Hols? - No, a reply can take up to 10 working days.
The final answer shows EH as what they really are - a money-making organisation posturing as a charity. 10 working days be damned, I could walk there to ask my question in that time frame. All I want to do is have a look at the markers for some Mesolithic postholes.
