Hi; archipoenic. Have you ever read a book by Jeremy Naydler, which deals with this matter? It`s the "Shamanic Wisdom in the Pyramid Texts: The Mystical Tradition of Ancient Egypt", publ. by Inner Traditions, Rochester (Vermont), 2005? (You can get it e.g. from here: http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/Shamanic-Wisdom-Pyramid-Texts-Jeremy-Naydler/9780892817559)
He is a philosopher, who received his doctorate in religious studies from the University of Kent, Canterbury. On the contrary to most egyptologists, he has interpreted this legacy as dealing with shamanic voyages being undertaken frequently under life of a pharaoh and not describing a single voyage after his death. It`s really worth reading.
The preparations to a shaman-pharaoh Otherworld voyage took
place within those "mortuary" temples, accompanying pyramids.
It`s known from the reliefs that pharaoh was running along a complicated sequence of tracks inside such a temple. To reconstruct that sequence, which should induce a shamanic trance is not an easy task and opinions differ.
So this could be a good starting platform for a next book of yours, providing that you can get there and try some variants of the tracks. Maybe afterwards you could apply your conclusions also to the megalith landscapes of NW Europe?
