One we missed at the time, by all accounts it's still there at the moment.
Crowds of visitors reached their hands out for The Circle of Friendship Bluestone Rock as it rolled into Waltham Abbey Gardens, Essex just in time for the annual King Harold Day event on Saturday 13 October, which commemorates the last Saxon King of England's death at the Battle of Hastings in 1066.
The rock, a piece of Preseli bluestone, the stone used in the building of Stonehenge 5,000 years ago, is travelling across the UK en route to the International Peace Garden in north America.
Members of the public are able to touch the rock in a symbol of human friendship.
Local British Rock organiser Graham Burgess believes the rock will, in a few years, be one of the most spiritually important in the world, as it will be flanked by rocks from across the globe that have simply been touched by people in the name of friendship. He said: “The atmosphere and mix of visitors combined traditional historic creativity with an enormous amount of goodwill and friendship. Martin Page, Greenspace Manager for Lee Valley Regional Park Authority sited the rock superbly and the beautiful gardens echo one of the ongoing associations with the rock.”
The rock will remain in the beautiful historic Waltham Abbey Gardens for the next couple of months for all to discover.

Some of the places our Bluestone will visit display those special geometries in greenhouse architecture and gardens. Before it leaves Britain it will be placed on a very special line at Waltham Abbey in Essex, the Greenwich Meridian, a key longitude.
It will then travel to Canada where it will be placed on another important line the 49th parallel, at The International Peace Garden on the Manitoba, North Dakota border. The 49th parallel connects with the city of Paris so those who installed this border in 1866 were celebrating the link between Europe and the North American continent.

What an all-round nice idea, particularly when the bluestone will be joined by all the others in the Peace Garden from around the world.
Interesting also to read about their ethos and the way the site has been planned. The catenary is not a geometrical - sacred or otherwise - form that I've previously encountered. Perhaps we could do a modern site-page when it's up and running as ancient practise in some areas involved gathering soil (and maybe stone for all we know) from different areas and combining them to start a new site.
