While walking yesterday I went to get a photo of the so called "abandoned bluestone" at Carn Menyn and found someone has been rather busy there...
The area around it has been disturbed obviously a dig has taken place ...Lets hope it was done by people who knew what they were doing...
The stone is visible in the above image mid-upper right with my stick on top of it...
I wonder if they found anything? Does anyone have any information on this at all?

I hope this wasn't the same visit - the article was dated 2005, and Hugh's was 2012, so hopefully they would have found their way off the mountain long before Hugh's photos....?

Hope you are well...
Yes I can confirm my photos and visit to the area was within the last couple of weeks. The area looked freshly disturbed and i can confirm this ground was not disturbed when we walked that day in the area as I have a photo of the same stone and the ground is undisturbed.
My nephew asked me a question and i feel it could be fairly important and that is....
"What is the likely hood or how easy would it be for "less than honest" individuals to "plant" evidence in the Carn Menyn outcrops to give weight to the Stonehenge transportation theory only for this evidence to be "discovered" later in digs like this?"
I am not trying to stir up any trouble here but for as many who are pro bluestone transportation by Human hand there are as many whom are against it and some people on both sides appear to be VERY motivated to say the least to prove it or otherwise....Just a thought...
It seems many of the locals do not believe it at all,yet people who live further afield seem to much more..

Archaeologists would have a pretty good idea if something had been planted.
It might have been easy to fool people in the past (piltdown Man), but archaeological methods are very sophisticated now.
I recently watched an episode of time Team from 2001 called Celtic Spring. The dig was in Llygadwy and the finds from the site were found to have been planted in the last twenty years. It didn't take them long to get to that conclusion either.
Whilst there are still instances of faked evidence by certain archaeologists wanting to bolster a particular theory, this does get found out sooner or later.
The disturbed ground might be from metal detecterists going over the area. Or people looking for blue stone fragments to sell.

Or the local authorities. Even if it's not an ancient site it might still be illegal to disturb the ground.
