The FESTIVAL OF BRITISH ARCHAEOLOGY takes place from Saturday 14th to Sunday 29th July 2012. We've organised nine walks and talks around the country to spread the word about the work of the Society in an enjoyable manner. T

I'm making up archaeobus... bus rides that anyone can do with the stops and walks....

the first is the bus100 from Basildon to Grays, calling at Stanford-le-Hope for a walk down to Mucking, then the Orsett Cock, and then the dene holes in Thurrock followed by a visit to the Thurrock museum for some stone axes and pots, plus the library for some reports...

then the words and things thing and the bibli0graphy thing click in.

Follow that with a search on the British Museum catalogue.

The CBA has a Facebook Group, so I'm going to publish archaeobus there.

There is a further thread to this, either getting the bus company to produce a leaflet with the timetable so everyone in the library and bus can know about it, or put it on google earth.

Interestingly grepping Orsett or Mucking on Megalith didn't get any hits.

Last Thursday (19-07-12) the Treasurer of the Milestone Stone Society Jan Scrine gave a very entertaining and enlightening talk at The White Hart Inn Bitton just East of Bristol - it was extremely well delivered with Jan herself acting the part of Tollhouse Meg, a widowed tollgate keeper and illustrating her talk with some excellent powerpoint photographs - it was great fun - if she gives a talk near you sometime do not miss it -

I see you've lain down the gauntlet to Sem to act the part of a Stone Age man for us as part of his talk on Saturday

Andy seems to have mixed up his "Charlesworths".
John is the one doing the Cresswell Crags presentation on Saturday and has the qualifications to do so.
Simon John (aka Sem), although having a longer name, will be presenting total rubbish at approx 2.15pm on Sunday. The exact time to be determined by how long Andy can keep him in the pub and away from his "presentation".

PS. I hope John doesn't take offence at being named after my grandfather!
