A RENEWED appeal for volunteers has been made by archaeologists hoping to collapse a replica broch.

Working in conjunction with AOC Archeology, the Caithness Archaeological Trust and Archie Sinclair Fossil Trust are running a month-long project to build and then collapse a life-size section of a broch in Spittal Quarry.

There's still a week to go on this project - it really is worth the visit if you possibly can, absolutely fascinating!

There's a pic here of progress when I left site yesterday...

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150323825711087&set=a.297083826086.158528.54822611086&type=1&theater

The colapse is planned for either Fri or Sat, Sat is the last day working on site. So if you definitely want to see it before they *try* and force it's collapse then try and get up there before Thur/Fri...

I know any volunteers to lend a hand, even for an hour, will be gladly accepted and you just need to turn up on site as and when (9-5pm, Mon- Sat, not Sun). Getting the volunteers in also helps with funding for the next stage of the project next year, so twice as important.

I blogged about my visit to site last week here - http://nickipaints.blogspot.com/2011/10/rock-n-roll-building-broch.html - and I'll add another post later with this weeks pics. I'll gladly add some pic's up directly here, but can someone suggest the best place to put them please?

Hello, sorry I didn't get a chance to answer this by email. I've created a page for the project here so please add as many as you like, (with the usual 'Submit Image' link to the top right of the page)

Thanks
