best name I have for this one - again, no signs at the site and a long narrow disused road between villages. I was in Haute-Normandie (Perche).

http://mythapplied.blogspot.com/

The closest I've come is TheCaptains "Pierre Courcoulée" but the surface of mine seems much smoother. Setting is very similar though.

Oh, and is there a way for me to just insert a picture, rather than continue to point to my blog?

Thanks, all...

I have dug out and posted some other pictures I had taken of La Pierre Courcoulée in the community of Ventes (Eure). At first I thought this might have been a good match, but on comparing the photgraphs I don't think so. The capstone of yours is much too thin by comparison.

Searching for Perche on the ign geoportail (http://www.geoportail.fr) finds no such place in Eure, but many places with Perche as part of the name in either Orne or Eure-et-Loir, eg MOUTIERS-AU-PERCHE.

Searching for bois de st laurent results in nothing for Eure or indeed Orne.

So, without a better lead, I don't think I can help you any further this time. To search further, I really need the correct and full name of the commune (village) where the dolmen was to be found.

Having said that I don't think it is http://www.megalithic.co.uk/article.php?sid=6333601 a further look at http://www.megalithic.co.uk/modules.php?op=modload&name=a312&file=index&do=showpic&pid=80148 which might be the nearest angle to your picture, and I think that the curved tree behind the dolmen in my picture could be the same as the curved tree to the left of the dolmen in your picture. But I am not 100% convinced. No, the other trees are not right.

And yes, you can add an image without knowing the exact site, by using the "join in" "submit an image" page from the top options menu.

Truly appreciate your searching - i agree, the capstones are definitely of differing thickness and the trees are close, but not quite right.

I will see if I can dig up my travel map on this one and get closer to the proper location.

Thanks again -

Well, at least I had Normandie correct! It is actually in Orne - under the name of Dolmen dit la Grosse Pierre.

Hello Pictstones,
Your new site "Dolmen dit la Grosse Pierre" with nearest village Boissy-Maugis is this one I suspect:

http://www.megalithic.co.uk/article.php?sid=6333538

I've added your photos to that page, does it look right by the map there?

In the main we have the sites you have visited already listed, try using the grid ref search (UK) or long lat search (elsewhere), or Google search on the name or the nearest village to see if you can find our page for them.
http://www.megalithic.co.uk/search.php

Then click on Submit Image at the top right of the site's page.

Thanks

Thank you, Andy. Yes - that appears to be the proper map location.

Sorry for any extra work I've caused - still trying to learn how to navigate the site.

Thanks...
