I cant open that link while here in the office at lunchtime, but looking for Bagnol in France, I find one small place north of Limoges, or do you mean Bagnols, of which there are about 5 different towns of that name in France?

Is it this one ? http://www.megalithic.co.uk/article.php?sid=6334333

More info needed please.

Its very possible that you have found a dolmen we dont have on the megalithic portal, so please submit us the details on teh right page (join in, add new site), and we can then consider it.

just seen your blog, and don't recognise the dolmen (but I've not seen them all), although it certainly does look real.

DO you have any idea whereabouts it was - hopefully a bit better than between Vitray and Senlis !!!!!!!!1

Thanks for taking the time to look. I really appreciate it.

Definitely NE of dolmen du bagnol - very close by as I recall. I'd been driving since about 7am and stopped for lunch just after I snapped the pic. In the department of creuse - I'm thinking not too far east off the E9 north of Limoges.

I'm really intrigued as to why I noted 'du cotets' as part of the name/location. Cannot find that on a map either!

Again I am in the office, so very limited what other websites will work for me.

I can see nothing obvious on the ign maps (geoportail), and as you say, searching on Google brings up nothing. I also searched for dolmen creuse les cotes as to me that seems a more likely name, but again nothing.

I cannot open t4t35's French megalith website (t4t35,fr?), but suggest you try there - although his listings and ours at the megalithic portal started off the same back in 2004 - after we spent long hours between us searching over maps and google!

In the years since 2005 he has gone his seperate way, and had many contributions from French megalith enthusiasts - more than we have here, so he may have something we dont.

So perhaps start with bagnol dolmen http://www.t4t35.fr/Megalithes/AfficheSite.aspx?NumSite=9667 and look around the nearby sites to it which he has listed. Maybe send him your question too.

Sorry, but I dont think I can be much more help.

Mind you, one thing I did think is that the landscape around the dolmen in your pictures looked too flat and open to be in this region, and looked to me to perhaps be much further north in the massive cultivated plains of central France.

thank you so much! I'll see what I can find with the info provided. I'll also relook at my trip maps a bit further north - that may be why I'm not finding any notations...

Appreciate your time and if I find anything that looks like a match, I'll add it to this site.

kind regards....

Dolmen de la Pierre-Folle! I cannot believe it - but the site you sent me to actually had nearly the same photo.

And you were soooo correct, it IS further north in the Centre, department of Indre, along the D2, just east of the town of Le Creuset - seems my notes were close, but not quite accurate ... lacking that final 't'.

Thank you so much for the assistance....

Glad to be of help. And thanks for letting me know the outcome!

Right, now for a long drive north!
