Having called in loads of favours to get the weekend off, just booked it!
It's not an under-cover op for some other nefarious activity is it Cerrig? When I told the lady who recommended the course she said "Eeerm... it's not ** is it? We've been having some banter with him!"
It's limited to 15 places, so I would suggest people book soon. Sounds like an interesting weekend.

It's actually a two day course, which prompted my "banter" with said lady. I got confused with the website, not difficult for me.
For anyone from the Portal who turns up, I'll be selling my "I've met Cerrig" signed tea shirts at a very special rate ( all sizes accounted for, as long as your a medium)

The blurb on it says that we will be using local megalith shapes. The nice lady said the course was limited to 15 people because of the space required. Could we be building full-size replicas?
"Oi, yes you Cerrig, leave that damn sheep alone and try pulling this piece of cardboard instead!"
Sounds interesting.

Sorry, should have pointed out that it's a two day course in my post. The website is not clear as it offers tickets for both Sat and Sun.
For anyone interested I'll also be selling "I've met Cerrig" T-shirts. The back of the shirt will also list ways of not meeting him again.
Coming from Yorkshire with an eye for t'brass, mine will be available in sizes other than medium for thrice the price. The XXL size will also include a how-to-spot-him guide.

Mynydd y Glog, 18 cairns mostly over 5m diameter.
Fan Brycheiniog, 7 circles but no archaeo digs.
Huge areas of unexplored land.
Never mind, the Welsh Assembly Govt have a plan.
Am I just paranoid or are they really out to get me?

Julie from the Small World Theatre rang this morning to confirm the event is going ahead despite only FOUR booked places!
It seems a pretty sad state of affairs when an area like West Wales, given the number of megalithic monuments there, can only attract the interest of four people.
Never mind, those of us in Wales can still pay for everything to be duplicated in Welsh.

I'm pleased it's still going ahead, maybe it wasn't advertised in the "right" places to attract people or perhaps they assumed it was twice the cost because of the booking arrangements on the website. I did.

It looks as though the course is £40 for one day and you choose whether you want the Sat or Sun. Or, because they talk about it being 'the weekend' it looks as though the weekend 2-day cost is £80.
We only know differently because Sem clarified it, but to any casual enquirers, I'd guess that's put them off.

Probably the advertising Rune. I came across it by accident on Robins website quite recently, so it wasn't widely known about.
Still, it should mean theres a chance to chat to Robin a bit more.

SUPERB weekend!!!
An absolute must for anyone interested in West Wales megaliths.
Pics and full report to follow (hopefully tomorrow). The pic of Robin Heath wearing an "I've met Cerrig" T-shirt proves how valued the MP and it's members are.

Just borrowing the description for posterity in case it disappears from the original site:
The Sun-Moon Experience ~ Building and Using Soli-lunar Calendars and Eclipse Predictors
A fantastic, broadening and informative 2 day course with Robin learning the ways the sun and moon move in the sky.
Participants will use simple geometrical shapes to simulate orbital and other astronomical time periods. They will work with models and plans of well-known local megalithic sites to discover that these same geometrical shapes and ratios are embedded within their design. There really is so much to do in this weekend including building diagrams to predict the phase and astronomical position of the moon, examining designs of surviving stone circles in order to make a working calendar of the sun and moon and to predict eclipses, suggestions for making garden sized model calendars and constructing a stone circle to take home after the workshop.
Suitable for adults and children aged 12 + if accompanied by an adult. Enthusiasm is most definitely more important than previous knowledge.

I hadn't read the bottom of the course description before, so I suppose it was lucky Robin was there to supervise me and Sem!
I would like to say though, it was a thoroughly enjoyable weekend, and I hope to do it again sometime. Very enlightening, and entertaining. The venue was great ( The Little World Theatre ) and the company was just as good.
For anyone considering going on one of these in the future, I can thoroughly recommend it . The local area has loads of fine megalithic sites within a short drive of Cardigan, and plenty of stunning scenery to go with it.
Robin gave a very convincing case for his theories, backed up with practical examples that we all managed to construct. There's nothing like doing something to get a proper feel for it , and that's what this weekend was all about.
All in all, a very productive and thought provoking weekend.
Now then, anyone want to buy a Tee shirt ( worn once )
