This has just come up on the Meg Portal adverts, I know not everyone sees the same ones, this series Mud Men looks rather good.
For those who don't know, Johnny Vaughan is a rather witty presenter and DJ who fronts one of London's top radio breakfast shows, who would have thought it. I wonder if this will be shown in the USA as well?

It's time to get your hands dirty with HISTORY's very own MUD MEN, aka Johnny Vaughan and Steve Brooker. Follow them as they have a muddy good time in their search for hidden treasures along the banks of the River Thames.
The Thames has been the lifeblood of London for thousands of years; as a major site for trade, crime, industry and war. For food, drink, death and debauchery, and even as the capital’s giant rubbish bin. Britain’s most iconic river is one of the world’s richest archaeological sites, and the Society of Thames Mudlarks has been finding the treasure there since 1976.
Mudlarks are the only people legally allowed to dig on the foreshore of the Thames, but now licensed Mudlark and official “Mud God” Steve Brooker will show Johnny Vaughan the tricks of the trade. They will recover the “rubbish” and artefacts from the thick, black mud in which it is has lain enveloped for years, even centuries, to reveal a unique and original perspective on London’s rich history.
Armed with metal detectors, trowels and shovels, the pair digs along the banks of the Thames uncovering a whole manner of artefacts; from jewelled daggers to slave manacles, medieval tiles to cursed Bellarmine pots. This leads them on a quest through the streets of the capital and to the Museum of London to unlock the secrets of our remarkable past.
Premiere Monday 28 February at 9:30pm

I don't know if anyone else caught this but I thought it was excellent. A bit silly and very blokey but refreshing to see history being done in a fun and irreverent way and with some good facts in there. They also made sure the site protection aspects were covered without being preachy. I have saved the programme as I am hoping my 13 year old son will enjoy it as well.

The Mud Men, Johnny Vaughan and Steve Brooker, are back for a second series of digging, delving, and unearthing along the banks of the River Thames and beyond. Follow them as they have a muddy good time in their hunt for buried treasure and hidden history.
Thursdays at 10pm from 26th January on History Channel (UK)

Thanks, Andy, sounds like a cool show. From my past research, I know those banks hold some pretty old layers in the strata, and it's like a needle in a haystack.
Except, if you find the needle, it changes history.
Cheers!
