A few Ancient Astronomy talks I noticed advertised in an Astronomy magazine.
Might be of interest to some of those on the Portal.
Astronomy Ireland
" Astronomy in Irish Prehistory: fact or fiction "
By Frank Prendergast, Spatial Studies DIT.
Monday 14 February 2011 at 8:00pm
Trinity College, Dublin
Frank Prendergast is a well known expert on Ireland's national monuments. In this talk he will explore the relationship between astronomy and our national monuments. He will talk about recent developments in our knowledge of astronomical alignments.
Is there any evidence that our ancestors were astronomically aware?
What do we know about them?
Why was astronomy important to them?

Cardiff talk is this Thursday. It's free to come along so if you are in the area do pop along.
Mike Edmonds is an entertaining speaker so the talk should be good.

Just received an email from Aurorawatch re the Northern Lights which could be visible over the next few nights, if anyone's interested or has clear skies. They would make a fabulous backdrop to some stones.
"As you may have seen in the news, recent solar activity means that in
the next few days we have the best chance of seeing the aurora for
several years. If activity is detected we'll send another email.
You can also follow us on twitter: @aurorawatchuk.
If you do see any aurora please add your photos to the AuroraWatch UK
group on flickr:

You can also add past sightings - we'll use the best contributions on
our webpage:

I've been lucky enough to have seen an aurora from Kent and Edinburgh. It's always worth having a look as you just never know.
