Let's give this it's own thread:

Any chance of a page of perhaps credit card sized printouts, with the Megalithic Portal address on it. I'm thinking of something that can be carried easily when out and about. I sometimes bump into people who are unaware of the Portal, and although I tell them about it, I just know that they will probably forget the name by the time they get home.

Something that could be handed to them would be ideal, and if it had some info on navigating around the website, perhaps how to find a site or something like that, that would be even better. Something printer friendly again would be ideal.
If it could be made to print on both sides as an option there could be some room for an advert too, or maybe the addresses of other complimentary websites. All sorts of possibilities there.

Good idea. I can get a load of cards printed and send them out to people. We're waiting to get a logo finalised then we can go for it. Thanks

Put me down for some please - I always recommend this site to the people who wonder what I'm doing in their field/forest/golf course/secret military base . . .
Can I use my Portal Shop voucher to pay for them?

Andy B wrote:

I won't charge for them, you'll be doing us a favour handing them out.

I should probably look at getting 10,000 done. We need a design, any ideas? And should it be B&W, spot or worth paying for full colour do you think? If full colour should it use a photo?

I wholeheartedly agree with Cerrig, it would often make talking to landowners etc.. far easier if there was a card we could hand them and let them see what is posted about their property.
I have on several occasions told the owners of sites that if they are worried about access or the way in which their property is represented they can go to this website and post comments themselves but it would give them more confidence if there was a card to confirm this at the time.

With regard to design, some of the images of Dolmens that often pop up in the random image look great in silhouette why not a simple Dolmen logo or is that too close to TMA?

How about the logo that was being worked (I think) earlier in the year?

What about an overhead view of stonehenge or Avebury. Or maybe a Roman coin type silhouette of Andy B.

I'll second the simple silhouette suggestion and nominate a trilithon, as it has to be recognisable to the public as 'something to do with ancient stones' and as we all know to anyone not a megarak, the word stone in conjunction with ancient just has to have the suffix henge.

Also, it has an appearance of a doorway which reinforces the name Portal.

Can we post our own suggestions/doodlings?

I second this.

And B/W will be sufficient in my opinion.

I've just been thinking about this. I'm not organised on the printing yet so something DIY can tide us over.

Business card size things made of paper don't work very well so I'm thinking of 1/4 or 1/2 A4 that can be printed and easily cut.

Here's something I created over the summer for the various talks I did.

Not a business card but a 3 page A4 guide to What's new at The Megalithic Portal
http://www.megalithic.co.uk/download.php?op=getit&lid=145

I'm not suggesting you hand this out on walks but you are welcome to for talks and suchlike.

I'll condense this down into something more hand-out-able.

I was originally thinking about a design that could be downloaded and printed out at my end, as BERNARDQUATERMAS posted. This could then be printed on card if wanted. I would prefer that than have the expense loaded onto the website.

I'm not convinced business card size pieces of paper work very well as they are hard to cut out and very insubstantial. I'm thinking of something on 1/4 or 1/2 A4 that can be printed and easily cut.

It's not a problem to get some printed as well, I'll get back onto that as well with some sample designs.

This all sounds ok, but what if we don't have a printer?

A while ago there was mention of a MegP logo - how's that going?

We'll get some printed in time Sunny.

Mike H had to take a break from the logo but will hopefully be back onto it soon.

Hello, I've created what I think should go on a business card, although it's really a mini flyer. I've tried to make it persona. I can upload a Word doc version so you could personalise it.

The text is as follows:

Word Doc version to customise before printing:

By all means make suggestions for changes or add them yourself and e-mail the Word doc back to me.

Thanks to Rune for sending some corrections and improvements back.

It's still very basic so if anyone feels like adding an artistic flourish to it then by all means.

An idea I had for the printed version would be to get something done in a bookmark shape, more useful and less throwable as a business card or larger 'taxi card' shape perhaps?

Someone with a feel for graphics and layout could improve this a lot.

Come on, don't be shy, let's have some ideas please
