Hello, in addition to our own gallery I have set up a photo pool on Flickr. If you have any photos on Flickr that fit into our usual categories then I hope you an add them.

Click on the 'Add something' link on the group home page here
http://www.flickr.com/groups/megalithic/

I am working on how to integrate these photos into the main Portal site in parallel with our own gallery.

(To allow automatic linking it would be good if you could try geotagging them with the long and lat or just with a tag with the name of the site as used on our site page but this is not essential.)

Thanks
Andy

Just a note of caution.
Many corporates block access to Flickr, which means pages refering to Flickr turn up blank.
Cheers

Can't use My Space, Facebook, Windows Messenger, Skype or Flickr though my mob. So I'll just stick with the Megalithic Portals excellent selections.

I'm in,
I love Flickr and use it as a reference for all sorts of things.
Because it is an integral part of Yahoo it gives a huge potential audience and also opportunities to get a more global contribution base.
This will also be a way for members to post large and high definition images, there are hundreds of brilliant and very professional photos of Megaliths already on Flickr.

Interesting... I've had a Flickr account for ages, but have in the past 10 days started poking around it again with a view to starting to use it more.

Will bear in mind.

Cheers

Indeed, and once we have a respectable looking group up and running I will start to approach people there to add their photos as well and look into how we integrate them with the Portal.

There's no substitute for our own gallery though, especially hearing that some corporates block access to Flickr makes it all the more important we have our own independent system.

I should make it clear that "my internet connection" is through a company network server that limits me/us surfing the net (although are not prudes). Mentioning F**** is cool, just can't link to it - mention Megalithic Portal - no problems.

I'm sure that public file sharing programs/websites, are the cause.

(Andy B, as an afterthought, maybe that's what has added to my problems with the "slow page" download? - don't matter though, still am getting heaps out of this site)

Appreciation to all those that contribute.

Go the Southern Cross (Crux) backdrop against the New Moon last Wednesday night!

FYI. At my place of business, the Portal is blocked as an "Entertainment" website.

Really? Flattering to have been heard of. I could resurrect http://www.megalithic.info as a mirror site, I wonder if they block that

Yeah those two pics are mine, I only had those on my Flickr account because they are just around the corner from my house.
I will upload some more this weekend.

You do have to pay, but I don't think it is as much as £25. Just checked - its whatever the equivalent of $25 is.
