We currently have a problem with our search box whereby it isn't bringing up all possible pages when you do a search. I am looking into what the problem is.
As a general rule, please also try the the Google Search button which is shown on the page after you've tried our main search.
This is a much better search tool powered by Google (obviously) and will find everything that has been posted on the Portal, including text in photo comments etc so is always best to try for a comprehensive search.
Thanks
Andy B

I think I've fixed it. Obscure problem with complex database query that I won't go into.
Here's a good search that now works, for Seahenge. As well as showing all the articles we've had over the years it generates a little map showing the original site with a grey 'Destroyed' icon and the red Museum logo showing where Seahenge now is and that we have photos.
Nice.
Try it yourself

(I should add that as far as I can see the search is now working properly. If you find any sites that don't appear when you search for them please let me know)

This is a reply to your invitation for examples where the Portal search page seemed not to work properly (It is not a criticism!!)
I can't find Sturmer Church, Essex, using the site Portal search page. I did find it by leaving the Portal site completely and using Google search, which gave me a link back into the Portal site again. This link worked perfectly and I then found what I was looking for. The church site seems to be classed as a henge when it is really an early christian (?) stone. There is an entry for the destroyed henge at Sturmer and the Church seems to have sneaked in under that classification without a classification of its own. Perhaps that has confused the on site search facility.

Hello, Sturmer Church isn't entitled to its own listing unfortunately, we happen to have photos of it as we like collecting them and they ended up on that page.
We only list churches when they have Early Medieval crosses or suspected standing stones.
Thanks
