hi, this is my first time in a forum on the net so i don't really know how it works?? on a recent trip to the chambered tomb at bryn celli du i was told by a man that the post inside the chamber wasnt actually stone but in fact a fossilised tree!! can anyone confirm this

I suggest you read Prehistoric Anglesey by Frances Lynch for the serious archaeology and then The Hiram Key by Knight & Lomas for some interesting speculation. I would forget the tree idea, unless you like it, in which case keep it and be content.

Maybe you should answer P's question.
With your research, you should be aware whether this stone is carved and/or it is a fossilized tree.
As opposed to being superior, pass your knowledge on - it's what we're here for.
