I'm wondering where the best place to view the winter solstice sunrise among the Mayan sites. Calakmul has some buildings set up for it, but it's in the middle of the jungle.

I see it's sunrise at 06:30ish local time at an angle of 115 degrees.

This is a handy tool for sunrise times:
http://www.sunrisesunsetmap.com/
and then you can transfer the time and long./lat. info into this:
http://www.srrb.noaa.gov/highlights/sunrise/azel.html
and you get the angle of sunrise.

P.S. I've just thought of another use for that sun angle calculator - working out the best time to visit a site to get the right sunlight slanting onto it. I've seen too many reliefs in the shade now - you just need to know which direction it's facing.
