The Stone cicle known as Drum Divan is according to Aubrey Burl as being in the village of Cardow Moray. Ref; NJ192431. This is if you have been there a Distillery. I live about 3 Miles from the site and am unaware as are the locals of the existance of a stone circle. Im sure the chances of anyone reading this post and knowing of the existance of the offending object is pretty slim.. But there is always a chance that someone may have visited the area on there hols ( as the county is littered with pre-historic monuments so well worth a visit) and know something the locals dont....
Any clues??????

Hello Lenny,
I was up in your neck of the woods last August finding obscure sites and we didn't get a chance to look into this one - it's one that's been on my mind so I'm very pleased to hear from you.
The reference is from Aubrey Burl's big Stone Circles book. It's listed as a (4) Destroyed or Unrecognisable - NJ192431 and Burl gives the source reference as
Coles F.R "Stone Circles of Banffshire and Moray", which is a paper in PSAS no.41 (year 1907) page 155-158
PSAS is the Proceedings of the Society of Antiquiries of Scotland.
That's all I know. We'd need to get a copy of that paper to go any further I think.
I have a feeling some PSAS are available on the web so I'm off for a look.
Cheers,
Andy

Yes, it's most likely destroyed, but we can still track down where it was and some more information about it.
I was right - see
http://www.socantscot.org/Publications.html
and
http://ads.ahds.ac.uk/catalogue/library/psas/
and here's the paper:
http://minerva.york.ac.uk/catalogue/proj_data5/PSAS_2002/pdf/vol_041/41_130_172.pdf
I'm downloading it but can I pass it on to you to have a read as it will probably mean more to you, knowing the area.
Wow - This is going better than I could have possibly hoped.
Cheers,
Andy

Andy,
I checked out the village this afternoon. And as I said no one is aware of this site. There is the distillery now which has been there since I think 1898. My fear is that the victorian builders may have well destroyed the site. I also checked out the masonary on the distillery itself but there is no indication of robbed out stone work. there is a site further south of the village which is now just earth works I may check this one out again and atke a closer look.
Let me know how you geton
