Years ago when I joined the Portal we hardly dared hope for this, but like other things that until recently seemed utterly unlikely in the U.S., it has come to pass.
The "hidden Indians" of Pennsylvania, those of the Lenape people whose ancestors never left the land of their forefathers, are now being recognised in a small exhibit in the Penn Museum, and as you enter the exhibit there is a photograph of one of the cairns of the Oley Hills Site!
When I started posting pictures here on the Portal, it was partly because there was no one in academia here who would listen to those who were exploring and documenting the sites as pre-Columbian or at least non-white. To see a museum featuring a cairn picture in an exhibit on native culture in Pennsylvania is most gratifying.
The home page of the exhibit is here. If you're interested, be sure to click on the links on the left for more information.
