Sarcophagus is a kind of burial type of Korea in Bronze age.
Are there sarcophagus in your countries?
If there are, please send me its image to my e-mail: deepspace74@hotmail.com
I would love to confirm its shape what they were the same or different among them.
I put this isse in the Fourm because there are generally two type of sarcophagus in Korea.
For example, One is usually grouped or found by themselves, the others is generally found among dolmens. But Sarcophagus is considered as dolmens when they are confirmed among dolmens "like a dolmen without cap stone".
I do not agree to this point.....I will let this stories out as soon as possible.
I believe Sarcophagus and dolmens are completely different...
If you have any of information or idea, please let me know it.
Thanks and best wishes,
Tom, Lee

Thanks a lot! Davidmorgan
This is a Queen's or King's tomb. There must be a lot of Sarcophagus around the world. Actually, I am looking for sarcophagus belonging to the humble classes.
Aren't there any cases among dolmens?
The information that I asked is quite important to understand prehistoric time and their life.
Someone should have more details.
I am waiting your cooperation and assistance.
Thanks,
Tom, Lee

Tom,
The word "sarcophagus" means a rich person's tomb, and often is carved from one big rock. They are not found in early Europe. The words you may find helpful are:
kurgan, cists (cysts: wood, stone, chalk,). There are many web-sites on those words.

In France there are many ancient tombs carved into the rock, of various types.
Some of these are called Pierres Closes, and a couple of examples I can think of which I have pictures of on here are :

in Great Britain, you don't get sarcophagi until the Romans arrived (43AD).
Here is a photo of a clay sarcophagus I took in Amasya, Turkey earlier this year (Roman - 3rd century AD):

Tom's pics. show what he means - cyst graves lined with stones.
His Korean-English dictionary has led him astray with
"sarcophagus", and that is not what he is talking about. Dolmens don't have sarcophagus. So it's kurgans, cists and timber-lined and stone-lined graves.

Thanks a lot! chimera
I had got wrong information regarding sarcophagus.
Actually, we did not subdivide between sarcophagus and cists(consist of single or stone-lined one) in Korea.
When I tried to translate "Suk-gwan-muo"="Cists" in English, I could not find it in many of Korean-English dictionary. I have learned you have divided its means.
Thanks again.
