Has anyone been to this? Is it still there?
in 1787 Marshall Conway was given a chambered tomb that was sited on Mont de la Ville, east of St Helier harbour on Jersey.
The following year he retired and re-erected it in the grounds of his home Park Place 1 mile southeast of Henley-on-Thames.
The book where I got the reference from claims it to be one of the finest in Southern Britain, but most books don't mention it as strictly it doesn't belong there.

Go here
http://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/oswebsite/getamap/
click get a map now
type in
henley on thames
go south east by one click
and there says The Druids Temple and in gothic script, "Passage Grave".
Appears well in the grounds of a large property though.
Fantastic find there
I have relatives in Henley, so perhaps this gives me an excuse to see them again
An entry shows up on Pastscape here

Have added to the entries here too; see here

strange how things happen. I saw something about this place just a few days ago, not sure how or where - possibly alphabetically searching through the oxfordshire e-gallery, or perhaps it popped up on the random pictures. And despite growing up not a million miles from Henley on Thames - I know the river there well - I had never heard of this.
We have pictures of it here on the portal, see http://www.megalithic.co.uk/modules.php?op=modload&name=a312&file=index&do=showpic&pid=505 to http://www.megalithic.co.uk/modules.php?op=modload&name=a312&file=index&do=showpic&pid=507
A quick google gives the following. See http://www.prehistoricjersey.net/Le_Mont_de_la_Ville.shtml and http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/7855
interesting to see TMA credits mega portal pictures, which we ourselves have lost !!!!!
