Finally!
At last! This summer I'll finally see Stonehenge! Ever since I saw a picture of it during English class (must have been 1983) I have been wanting to see it. I've planned to do so the last 5 years but something always came in between, but now it's about to happen!
I am excited as a kid!
My brother-in-law and his son (who used to dig up pebbles and small stones etc. years ago) come with me.
We'll stay in Salisbury and will visit Old Sarum and the remains of an old settlement there first, then we'll visit the Stonehenge area, including Woodhenge, after that we'll check out the Avebury Complex and everything that's there.
On the third and last day we plan to see Cerne Abbas Giant, it's not that impressive like the stones are, but it's not too far from Salisbury and while we're there anyway we might as well pay it a visit.
And if there's enough time left we'll visit The Long Man of Wilmington and its surroundings too.
I'm also planning to create a nice video of our trip, if it's done I'll post it here.
PS anyone has any idea of travelling around the area?

If you are going down to see the Cerne Abbas Giant you might consider going a few miles further south to Dorchester and visit Maiden Castle, a very big hillfort. It is a bit far to visit the Long Man of Wilmington after Cerne Abbas (unless you're going past it on the way home).
Enjoy your trip

Hey Shunt, when approaching Stonehenge expect to be a bit disappointed, many people are. Then, hire a motorcycle, ride to Avebury as fast as you can and be happy.
