Has anyone visited the Stanton Moor area recently?
I ask as there are now boulders placed in the areas where cars could previously park, also signs have been erected at the entrances stating any one camping will be prosecuted.
Is this a new ploy by the quarries to prevent acess?
We visited Doll Tor and parked in the car park down the road, but several cars were parked at varying angles on the sloping verges.
We also stayed the night on Mam Tor to watch the sunset and the Solstice sunrise, only 11 people up there for a superb sunrise and a calm night with no wind!
So It's Derbyshire for me next year!!

I think the blocked parking was to try to deter people from camping at the nine ladies - it did not seem to work.

As for the 'trespassers will be prosecuted' signs - I know that they are wanting to deter camping - but you cannot be prosecuted for trespass - it is a civil offence - basically, it is a waste of good signs.

Hi Phil. You can park on birchover rd next to the field containing the oundle stone, the huge rock in the field you went past to visit dol tor, but dont leave your car here overnight or it will probably get robbed.
The best place to park is on Lee's rd by the travellers vehicles, you cant miss it as you'll see the tree houses built by the protesters as you enter the woodland. Alternativly continue on about 50 metres past there and take the left turn taking you up a steep narrow lane where you will find a lay-by next to a sign labled nine ladies stone circle half mile, Its by the entrance to a quarry, you'll see the large boulders blocking the quarry access rd its also the quickest and easiest way to find the circle. Ive parked there many times and not had my car or van touched. re camping. Dont camp by dol tor, the landowner hates people crossing his field at the best of times and doing so could cause access issues for future visitors. You'll find loads of places to camp by the nine ladies either in view of everyone or well outta site and have no problems from anyone unless the Chesterfield brew crew are there, if so just camp in the woods nearby. If you find the circle deserted as is often the case please dont camp right up against it, it intimidates casual visitors as ive witnessed myself. Either way equip yourself with the os explorer map the peak district white peak area ol 24, you'll find loads of other nearby places to visit within easy walking distance and you'll find the parking places easier too. hope this helps.

ps, dont leave your litter or i'll be forced to hunt you down and kill you and if you need any more advice dont hesitate to ask.

Hi,
Thanks for the info folks, but it is now not possible to park on the road next to the Andle Stone as rocks have been placed here as well.
well they were on the Friday of the Solstice. Going up the peaks Saturday so will take another look!
I always work on the principle; Don't change the site, let the site change you!
And having camped at Nine Ladies on several occasions we always stay well away from the site and always take our rubish home, more often than not with another black bag full of other peoples left overs too!

Phil
