An anonymous contributor writes: A very high proportion of neolithic and bronze age stone circles, tumuli, standing stones, cairns etc can be joined in groups of 3 or more by lines. Although the reason for this is not obvious it indicates a substantial level of national co-ordination over thousands of years.
