Can you help Ellen with this question, she writes:

Hi Andy,

We will be in Carnac in July. Do you know any resident archaeologists in the area? I contacted the museum there and was told that they don't offer any tours in English, so we would love to hire someone who is knowledgeable.

We had a wonderful English-speaking guide at the museum in Eyzies, so we were surprised and disappointed that one isn't available on the staff of the Carnac museum.

Many thanks for any advice or contacts that you can offer.

-- Ellen

There are english guidebooks in Carnac museum...but they are not very comprehensive,apparently...they didn't have any available during my visit.
Le Petit Train which visits around Trinitie Sur Mer and Carnac(and the megaliths) has an english commentary...I love the phrase..."there has been mass hypnosis as to the origin of the stones"...(they mean hypothesis I assume!).
Be sure to visit Le Geant and Le Quaderalateral...also don't be afraid to go into the tomb at St Michel opposite the stones. It has a narrow entrance but widens out and has a hanging ceiling with axe carvings in the l/h corner.
