A question from someone:
I wondered whether you knew what is the world's second largest stone circle, after Avebury?
Is it the Great Circle at Stanton Drew, with a diameter of about 113 metres. Or maybe one somewhere outside the UK is larger?

The Bingham Canyon Mine is an open-pit mine ... a pit over 0.75 mile (1.2 km) deep, 2.5 miles (4 km) wide, and covering 1,900 acres (7.7 km²). According to Kennecott, it is the world's largest man-made excavation.[1]

As a male of the species, I ask, is size important ?
Because if it is ..... ?!?
Seriously, I've checked all my books and can't find anything bigger than Stanton Drew. Furthermore I was talking with an archaeologist at a convention in Cardiff on monumental landscapes a few years ago and she was of the opinion that Stanton Drew was a precursor to Avebury.

Not the second largest , but if Bob Lind is right and the Heimdall Stones in Sweden are genuine they are 90m greater than Avebury in diameter .

I have done some enquiries on this and it looks like Bob Lind is being creative , it doesn't look a likely stone circle at all .
