Stonehenge Riverside Project at Durrington Walls on Mon. Went last year and it was absolutely fascinating. Check on the "2007 excavations".

Jimit,
Just read the link , cheers, if you are going could you ask them a straight forward question please?
Why do they declare that the avenue and circle were the main components of a CEREMONIAL complex.
Have they reason or evidence to support such a fact.

I must admit I thought there was quite a lot of convincing dating evidence about both Woodhenge and Stonehenge.
As for...
"Why do they declare that the avenue and circle were the main components of a CEREMONIAL complex. Have they reason or evidence to support such a fact"
I'd say none to support it as fact but loads to support it as the lead theory. (Excluding any theories that are more appropriate to the Mysteries Forum of course. So long as Stonehenge is up here I'd say its just about as obviously ceremonial as ceremonial places get...)

Fascinating hours at the Riverside project on Mon. Several new structures discovered just to the South of Woodhenge. Underneath the ploughed-out Bronze Age barrows they have found the remains of earlier structures including, what I think is called, a 4 post structure with the holes over a meter across. Next door is an intriguing find, a round double ditched enclosure with obvious, roundish, disturbed areas on the perimeter. A friend, who helped with some excavations on Cranborne Chase, said they found similar there but without the double ditch.
Preliminary excavation at the Cuckoo Stone has revealed a sort of mini Roman "craft centre" with signs of metalworking and a possible ramp which may have been used to erect the stone originally.
At Durrington Walls, work is in progress to try and find out why the South entrance was filled in and blocked.
At the SH Cursus, trenches have been opened over the N an S ditches at the W end. Wonderful contrast with the brilliant white of the chalk sides and the fine dark brown infill. It looks like the stuff you buy at the local garden centre! Interestingly, the first part of the S ditch is aligned on Beacon(?) Hill, the other side of the Avon but then kinks to follow the rest of the Cursus and is easily seen on the OS map. A couple of theories mooted by the archeos on site proposes that the Cursus was pointed at the Cuckoo Stone...Hmmmm!
Another trench is investigating the W terminus of the Cursus. The present slight ridge there is a 20(?)C re-construction after the pig farm on the site was removed!
