Hello,
Hello,
Site newbie here!
I am a photographer based in Edinburgh looking to find out any info about holy well sites in Scotland. Am looking for any books / info with site locations so I can do some exploring am often in the Highlands taking photos, see my site http://www.apug.org/forums/portfolios.php?u=12991
KiwiBetsy has posted some great info, any idea where I can get more?

Hello there!
If you are au fait with searching databases, the Scottish National Monuments will see you off with some positive sites; also you might like to ask at the National Wells Index - which although English in its focus might have a bod or two able to help you out there.

A couple of primary texts on Scottish sites are:
MacKinlay, James M., Folklore of Scottish Lochs and Springs, William Hodge: Glasgow 1893 (though a modern paperback edition was produced a few years back).
Morris, Ruth and Frank, Scottish healing wells: healing, holy, wishing and fairy wells of the mainland of Scotland, Sandy: Alethea Press, 1982. (an excellent sourcebook!)
Then there's the on-line copy of MacKaile's The Oyly-Well here:
