I've loaded some recent photos of the Cahokia Mounds complex - both mounds and a few pictures from the museum.

I hope you can see it one day.
My photos do not do the place justice. And the nature of the grass covered earthen mounds in a midwestern farming/industrial setting do not make for the sort of "spectacle" one finds at places like Mesa Verde. The place is not really well known - even within the region.

An old friend is living in Santa Fe, New Mexico. (His house number used to be 667and a half, we called him "the neighbour of the beast".)

Maybe we'll get over there sometime, there is such a lot to see.

State Road 666 used to run through the Four Corners area until religious fanatics convinvced the highway departments of the incredible bad mojo and got the road number changed.
If you even visit your friend you've got a tremendous number of sites to visit in NM, AZ, and CO.

(Of course, you could arrange to fly through the St. Louis MO airport, have a 1 night layover and visit Cahokia, too! Less jet lag that way!)
