I'm using the latest Firefox browser, which, like the previous version and afaik the latest IE, has a special 'search' box in the tool bar, to the right of the URL box. It already has some search engines in its drop-down list (google, yahoo, amazon, ebay and so on). You can add other sites to this list - would it be possible to have a "megalithic portal" search to add to it? I have no idea how it works (sorry).

Yes it is possible. Perhaps someone technically minded with a moment to spare can have a look at what's involved
A query for blah on the Portal is
http://www.megalithic.co.uk/search.php?query=Blah
Blah Blah
http://www.megalithic.co.uk/search.php?query=Blah%20Blah

Here is the Megalithic Portal search box for Firefox.
1) Download this file megalithicportal.xml. (Right click on the link - Save link target as ...)
2) Close Forefox.
3) Maybe you have to rename it to megalithicportal.xml after downloading.
4) Copy the file to the searchplugins directory of your Firefox installation e.g. C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins\.
5) Restart Firefox.
6) Select Megalithic Portal from the search box menu.
