Quote from a field guide to archaeology, by Eric S. Wood:
"In order to learn more of the processes involved in the life of earthworks (silting, soil-creep, consolidation, weathering, action of vegetation and earthworms etc),the British Association, supported by other bodies, has begun a long-term experiment in which banks and ditches of controlled dimensions will be built by hand methods, and examined at intervals over the next 128 years. The first of these was made on chalk-down soil near Marlborough (Wilts.) in 1960"

Does anyone know how, or if, this experiment is doing?

Pete G showed me this site last year. It's just to the east of Avebury. Looks like a mini long barrow with a small fence around it with an explanatory notice. Needless to say there is not a lot to look at! Someone out there must have the correct grid ref?
Jim.
