If you've ever had an error when submitting a photo to the Portal, then it won't let you try again saying the 'media already exists' then read on. Or just if you'd like to help in a few spare minutes.

I've rescued about 30 photos (about a year's worth of 'ones that got away') from where they were trapped down what we call the 'plugole'!

They are now in the eGallery, look in the Misc category.

If you can identify any locations, or better still who their owners are, add a comment to the photo. We'll do the rest to put them in their rightful place.

It's quite likely some are repeats, so if we already have a copy somewhere else, let us know so we can delete them
Thanks
Andy

Hi Andy
I identified some of them as Czech. I'm assuming PerterPF sent them in and will contact him for comments.
A couple look like Netehrlands from Shunt. Is anyone friends with him?
The remainder, I don't know.
Take care

Alex

I have sorted one or two I recognise (eg Lutry), but there are others that are now duplicates. And if the photo is deleted, then we lose all copies as they have the samefilename. Be careful people.

I don't think they will have the same file name. The Portal won't let two images with the same file name in.
But let me know before you delete one and I'll check, just in case.

I fixed a number of US pics from Bat400 and then he sent comments which allowed me to fix the rest. Same with Shunt.
The Czech stones are now properly identified, but PeterPF hasn't claimed them as his yet.

I deleted a few duplicates the other day and can confirm the originals are still in place.

What to do if you haven't identified images but have cleaned them up so you can make out what's what ? I ask because I was asked my opinion on two particularly dark images and I'd love others to see what they look at 'restored' in case they then ring a bell. Didn't see any other "Misc" pictures in similar need, thank goodness.

Download the dark ones to your PC.
Clean them up with your graphics program.
Save as JPG again and change the name slightly so as not to clash with the original.
Post them back into Misc category.
Leave a comment and one of us will delete the dark one once the new one has been approved.
Cheers
