Well, the weather forecasters have got it right this time. The blizzards have hit Aberdeenshire - I was caught in one as I was driving north from Aberdeen this afternoon, but luckily I managed to get home ok!

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

It's only just begun to snow here (9pm). Maybe I'll get the day off work tomorrow!

(Hope it clears up for the Derbyshire MegMeet at the weekend tho'!)

A passing flurry here just after 9pm (south Cheshire); most of it has now melted.

I've been on the phone to someone (not online) in Alfreton (Notts) who should be on the meet on Saturday - not a flake; nor with my mother in law who lives within 20 mins of the meet!

Off to bed very soon!

Tim

About 3inchs here in Huntly but high winds have made driving bad. Schools off and will be until wind slows down a bit.

My next door neighbour here in Cambridge was clearing the 1.5" of snow off his car this morning. He comes from Bangor, Maine, USA. He told me they keep the schools open over the pond until there is over 2 feet of snow, they get over 3' regularly. But the whole state still mostly continues to function, with public transport etc. I suppose we are just not geared up to deal with anything other than rain and sleet.

Well, we had an hour long session of snow here this morning; great fun with the kids

Traveller - I was born & brought up in Dorset - do you remember the snow (I think) in '78?

Now raining here.

Well, I got the day off!
Started snowing again about an hour ago in Leeds and it's coming down pretty heavy now!
No doubt It'll all have turned to mush by nightfall...

Rained here much of the day; turned to a furious blizzard mid afternoon accompanied by a few spectacular claps of thunders... the A500 into Stoke as closed, and some colleagues are having trouble getting home.

It is now crystal clear, and an ice rink out there!

Will be going very careful on my bike later on!

Cheers

It's been even worse here in north-east Aberdeenshire today. Every school has been closed and I've been stuck in the house all day, the wind is blowing a gale and the snow is falling like nobody's business. Now, if only I had broadband I could have been browsing these pages all day instead of being bored witless!

How oxymoronic that this thread now has a burning logo ? Does that mean "it's as cold as hell"?

Mar's ain't the kind of place to raise your kids... in fact it's....

cheers

A96 to Keith blocked this morning, Glens of foundland now open but hellesh to drive in.
Wind is getting up now and has turned warmer (will have to look out the T shirts) and snow is melting.
Had about 8 inchs of snow. Happy days, I love it.

We had three inches of snow in Porthcawl a few weeks back, and Somerfield ran out of bread and milk !

Do you know, on a clear day, you can see the BT tower from my Mum's front garden.

Three inches of snow!!!!! Here in Brackla, barely six miles away, just mention the word snow and the supermarket will be bare of food staples in ten minutes. It's a frightening sight is a woman with a trolleyful of bread and microwave meals rushing to checkout before she's snowed in.
