jasonvaughn, You are not alone having a closed mind.
I consider it is natures way, and upto less than one year ago, I was exactly the same.
One way to understand how efficient this is , our minds blocking off that is.
Try to visualise what is happening inside yourself right now.
You won't be able to, you could not cope with all that information, and survive in the world we live in.
In the same way, your retina can only see a limited amount of what is all around you.
You have only a limited amount of senses ,and they vary as to the need.
If you went blind other senses would raise to try to compensate , to help you survive.
We have a dormant sense, myself been a throw back to neanderthol man can use this sense very very well.
It seems to centre around the pineal gland in the forehead ( I also have a big head , I know this as been an antique dealer i have difficulty finding any big enough ) you can find endless drawings showing dowsers, but it takes one to recognise one.
with this dowsing, I have re-learnt what is inside all of our heads but it is closed off , it's almost like doors opening, and you KNOW what is through the door, but it is so long ago that you were in there that you have to re-learn, but like riding a bike, you never actually forget.
LSD and other such drugs open these doors, but you can't COPE without it been natural, starvation for long periods will take you there as well, this is why the buddists have been able to access such wisdom.
Dowsing opens the doors slowly, for some reason with me the doors fell off their hinges (unhinged ) but because there was not too much in the part of my brain that I had used before, I have coped ok.
Many end up as religious people, the usual term used is" I HAVE SEEN THE LIGHT " they have in a way, because in the beginning there was light.
Everything is part of this light.

Cheers for that Kevin,
didn't Aldous Huxley use mescaline to "open his mind?" I must read the doors of perception / heaven and hell. Got it gathering dust on the shelf. Too scared to try any of the psychotropic substances though. Personally I think that there are parts of my psyche that I'm quite happy for them to remain shut!
(edit for spelling)
