Can anybody recommend a good GPS system that I can use for the GPS dates listed on this site.
Does anybody happen to know if the
eXplorist Range Magellan 100 GPS is any good? I know it's a cheap one, but I would just need it to find the coordinates listed on this website.
Any ideas, suggestions? Send them my way!

Any GPS is good to find sites. Very useful is a device where it's possible to manage the co-ordinates via pc (USB- or RS232-cable or via Bluetooth). A good freeware program is G7ToWin. It supports various types of GPS devices, check it out before buying the GPS.
Good maps are essential for searching sites. Digital maps are expensive, paper-maps are often the better choice, so you do not need a advanced GPS receiver.
I've got a Garmin GPS 72, it's a cheap one, but I'm very satisfied with it.

I have been playing with a handheld GPS recently - the Garmin Etrex - and I have been recording all my experiences on my blog here and here ... I use Gartrip on the PC, and build up digital maps using scans.

I use a handheld Garmin etrex Venture, along with paper maps. I struggle with all the features it has, but in its simple form it is very easy to use.
It is also useful for a variety of other things than stonehunting (beware, the maps are often not very accurate) such as for recording logs of walks, sailing trips, and just last week, as a safety backup if things went wrong, and for recording details of my ski trip. I got a speed of 122 kmph on my feet. Of absolutely no use whatsoever, but interesting to know !

That usually occurs when it has only just been switched on or when reception is poor. Can be a very useful feature indeed if you have to be somewhere by a particular time.
