After a wonderful trip last year visiting the megaliths of the Orkney and Shetland Islands, I pre-booked my tour to the Highlands and Islands of Scotland with the same tour company, Megalithic Tours. I paid for my ticket in advance to ensure I had a place, as the tours tended to fill up quickly.
Roll forward to May 2009 and my brother informs me he is bringing forward his wedding from 2010 to 2009. Fabulous! Except my holiday allocation at work won't stretch to a trip to Scotland AND a trip to Australia, as the only leave I have left will be swallowed by the time needed for return flights. So, I tried to cancel my trip to Scotland, only to find the tour had already been paid for in advance (the week before) and I couldn't get my money back because the tour isn't full.
So, unless the tour becomes full, or someone agrees to take my place I will lose all the money (£550), and I can't afford that. So, if you, or anyone you know is interested in megaliths, archaeology or the history of the Highlands and Islands of Scotland, please ask them to contact either me (via PM), or Neil at Megalithic Tours.
I really, really need to sell my place on this tour. I can't recommend Megalithic Tours enough. The groups are small, the bus is comfortable and Neil really knows how to take care of people. So, please pass this on to anyone that may be interested.
Many thanks,
