A word of caution - honeysuckle grows like that doesn't it? Several stems winding round each other? I would have though it made a very poor rope.
Neolithic rope was mainly leather or linden bast I believe.

Hi Rbatham
The original article mentioned Dolorite, which we now know was a mistake, no such mineral/rock, but there is a Dolerite. I know this is now getting rather confusing!!!
According to my books Diorite is not a type of basalt (Dolerite, or Diabase, is part of the same group). They merge impercepitably with granite, with which Diorite is usually found and therefore mistaken for. The pyramids also contain a lot of granite, some even had a outer casing of the rock...or possibly diorite/granite mix. Others had a outer casing of smooth white limestone. As you said built from limestone, the core stone of most pyramids are made up of yellowish limestone. Haven't had time to look up the web site where Dolomite was mentioned as a building material, presumably that wasn't reliable!
