Visits to the museum are by arrangement at a time to suit you. We can accommodate groups of up to 30 persons, whilst small groups and individuals are always welcomed. School visits can be tailored to meet your needs.

The only problem is that all of the barrows are on private land, even biggies like Duggleby Howe, http://www.megalithic.co.uk/article.php?sid=5134 so there's no chance of getting very close without prior permission - it's another thing on my to-do list. Do take your visitors into the ER Museum in Hull, the artifacts from the Wolds are well worth seeing. http://www.megalithic.co.uk/article.php?sid=6866
Not sure of any mounds around Beverley, there are 3 beside the main A166 near the top of Garrowby Hill, one's just the York side of the summit, the other two have a convenient layby nearby, they straddle the junction of the A166 and the Malton Road, look each side of the junction, they both have a dome of mature trees, planted in Victorian times to keep Mortimer off!

There's Callis Wold too, but not much is visible, and there's a prominent mound with a sunken middle near the top of Kilnwick Hill coming out of Pocklington towards Warter, again on private land. http://www.megalithic.co.uk/article.php?sid=25264
There are a few barrows around Thixendale, one, a bowl barrow maybe, at the top of Aldro bank has a road through it, chopping off about 25%

*The* resource for barrows in the Wolds area is Mortimer's very rare and £00's per copy "40 years" etc. Years ago, I heard that the museum had it ready to be put onto a CD but could not obtain funding.

Edit - Forgot, there's also a lot of Iron Age chariot burials, too, notably one which featured on a TV prog, http://www.britishmuseum.org/explore/online_tours/britain/the_wetwang_chariot_burial/the_wetwang_chariot_burial.aspx nothing to see there now, a few modern houses are built over the site.

I have some american tourists coming for a tour of East Yorks. They had asked to see prehistoric sites and had listed danes grave, nr ruston parva and star carr. neither of these appear to have much to see. we will be visiting rudstone and the thorborough henges and standing stones nr aldborough, but can anyone recommend barrows in east yorks, perhaps close to driffield/brid road or beverley area, which might be worth a brief stop?
