Mono means one - mega means big- lith means stone
monolith is one stone
megalith is big stone
We talk about the megalithic age or culture as being one where people built tombs, circles etc with large stones
Monolith refers to a single stone and usually means a single standing stone
Neo means "new" so Neolithic means new stone age and "palaeo" means ancient and so Palaeolithic means old, early or ancient stone age
OK?
